A SCARCE 20-BORE HENRY ELLIOTT 1863 PATENT PUSH-FORWARD UNDERLEVER ROTATING SINGLE-BOLT SNAP-ACTION BAR-IN-WOOD HAMMERGUN, serial no. 3413,
circa 1865, converted from pinfire, 30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 1990) with short engraved raised sight rib, ramped bead fore-sight, the sunken rib engraved 'WIGGAN & ELLIOTT MAKERS TO THE ROYAL FAMILY & THE PACHA OF EGYPT', the breech end with scroll detailing and 'ELLIOTTS PATENT.' in gothic script, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, Henry Elliott patent action, patent no. 1782 of 16th June 1863, push-forward underlever, carved fences, rebounding back-action locks with high spurred hammers of hare's-ear form, acanthus scroll engraving with feathered bordering, the top strap and action flats with Elliot patent details in an oval, 14in. figured stock including buttplate, weight 5lb. 11oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather guncase
